Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Sullivan County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so that we can respond. We keep that correspondence within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server receives routine technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that activity into traffic reports. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted query to the selected search provider
- Maintain reliable operation and reasonable page speed
- Identify technical faults and repair them
- Measure which resources visitors use most often
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Sullivan County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to records held by the Sullivan County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services Division, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's privacy policy, including its retention and sharing practices. Review that policy before sending a query because this policy does not control the provider.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to government offices, court portals, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Check them before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may measure activity across different websites to select ads. That tracking occurs through the partner's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable standard safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such data is identified, it will be removed upon a valid request.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Missouri consumer-protection law, including the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, Chapter 407, may provide rights or remedies based on the facts. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
